e& mobile data or call quality: the settings that fix most cases
Before you accept that the network is at fault, check the four settings that produce the same symptoms as an outage - and know which one explains your exact pattern.
Data roaming and APN
Outdoors-fast-indoors-slow behaviour is usually coverage, but 'no mobile data at all' is usually configuration. Reset the access point name to the operator default (the APN is provided by the SIM profile on most handsets; delete a hand-entered one and let the phone re-read it), then restart once.
If a VPN or a private DNS profile is installed, disable it for one test. It produces exactly the 'bars but no internet' pattern people report as a network fault.
VoLTE, calls dropping to no-signal
Where 2G and 3G have been retired, voice rides on the data carrier: without VoLTE enabled, calls fail or the phone falls back to no service while data still works. Turn VoLTE (calls over LTE / VoIP calls) on in the mobile settings, and if the handset supports it, Wi-Fi calling as well.
In buildings with weak penetration, Wi-Fi calling is the real fix rather than a signal booster, and it is free on postpaid lines.
Manual network selection
When travelling or on the edge of coverage, let the phone search and pick the network by hand instead of relying on automatic selection. A stuck registration on a visited network causes one-way audio and failed sends that look like a fault on your line.
When it is genuinely a network problem
If calls and data fail only at one address, at one time of day, and other e& users there report the same, that is a capacity or fault issue - raise it with the reference and ask for the cell/site to be checked; if the answer comes back empty, escalate with the same reference rather than opening a new ticket each week.
Compare against another line on another operator at the same spot before you argue; a single-operator pattern is a network item, an all-operators pattern is a building item (concrete, film, distance from the street cabinet) and needs a different fix such as a small-cell or Wi-Fi calling.
What to use, exactly
| Task | How |
|---|---|
| Reset the access point | delete the manual APN and let the SIM profile re-read it |
| Enable VoLTE / Wi-Fi calling | phone settings > mobile network > voice & data |
| Report a fault | the app's network-fault option, or the care line |
Keep these open next to each other

- The operator's own plan and support pages - the text your order form was written from
- The regulator's complaint portal - what to file, in what order, with which evidence

- Prices and inclusions: the operator's own plan page for your emirate, then the same figure on the order form you signed.
- Your line state: the My du app - Account > Services shows suspension, bar, data cap and contract end.
- Faults in your area: My du app > Support > Outage status, or 155 from a du mobile (free).
- Anything regulatory (billing disputes, escalation): TDRA - your complaint must cite the ticket number du gave you, dated.
Confirm the current fee and the exact menu path in the operator app before you act on anything here.
