Port forwarding, DMZ and NAT on a du line
Consumer du lines get a private/carrier-grade IP in many areas, which means an incoming port forward does nothing until you have a public IP - the first thing to check before spending an hour on the router UI.

Do this, in order
- Compare the router WAN IP with what "what is my IP" shows. Different = CGNAT, and a forward will never work.
- For cameras/NVRs behind CGNAT, use the vendor cloud, a reverse tunnel, or buy a public IP/business tier.
- If you do have a public IP: add the service port + LAN IP under NAT/Virtual Server, keep the range tight.
- Never DMZ a smart TV or IoT gadget to the internet; DMZ is a debugging tool, not a config.
- Business DIA includes public IP blocks - the correct answer for anything that must be reachable.
